See on Scoop.itLapin Law Offices

Today is “Give to Lincoln Day 2014” a day dedicated to people living in the city of Lincoln, as well as Lancaster County, Nebraska, to donate money to local nonprofit organizations. The Lincoln Community Foundation, along with other sponsors, will be giving away an additional $300,000 to these nonprofits.

Last year, the second Give to Lincoln Day was held on May 16, 2013.  It was considered an enormous success as $2,119,318.00 was raised in just 24 hours to 253 nonprofit organizations by 6,624 individuals.

I would strongly urge everyone that lives or has lived in Lincoln or Lancaster County to donate what they can today as these nonprofits directly impact Lincoln, Lancaster County and the people that live here.

30 Things You Can Do With A Law Degree

See on Scoop.itNebraska and National Legal and Other News

Not everyone who goes to law school, gets a law degree and even passes the bar wants to practice law. Some do it for the education and the skills law school can teach you for many other types of jobs.

Jeffrey Lapin‘s insight:

30 Jobs To Do With A Law Degree [Infographic]

While not a totally comprehensive list, it does list a large number of jobs in which a law degree is either a necessity or very beneficial.

The infographic was created by Bahman Eslamboly. I helped come up with many of the professions.

Oh Crap App

See on Scoop.itNebraska and National Accident, Injury & Disability Information

Get Oh Crap App on the App Store. See screenshots and ratings, and read customer reviews.

Jeffrey Lapin‘s insight:

The ‘Oh Crap App!’

iTunes Description: "Download this app to protect your legal rights! This app is designed to educate the public regarding their legal rights when being investigated for a criminal offense. It features the emergency “Oh Crap!” button designed to be used in emergency situations where a person is being stopped or questioned by law enforcement. This app also has additional features such as an informational Blood Alcohol Calculator, Legal Rights Advisory and Top 5 Ways to Avoid a DUI."

While I believe that drivers should know their legal rights this type of app seems to encourage driving while intoxicated. I also would be highly suspect of the Blood Alcohol Calculator.
